Nominations for awards 2019/20

Each year the Academy confers honorary awards to recognise those who have contributed significantly to the music profession or to the Academy itself.  

Nominations are now closed for the Academy’s honorary awards to be presented during 2019/20.

Types of awards

Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music (FRAM)
Awarded to alumni who have distinguished themselves within their field, commanding national or international recognition, or who have given exceptional service to the Academy. Limited to 300.

List of current Fellows

Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music (Hon FRAM)
Awarded to distinguished individuals who did not study at the Academy, who have given exceptional service to the Academy (excluding financial donations) or to the music profession in general. Limited to 100.

Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music (Hon RAM)
Awarded to distinguished musicians who did not attend the Academy, who command national or international recognition within the music profession. Limited to 300.

List of all current Members

Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM)
Awarded to alumni who have made a significant contribution to the music profession or to society in general.

Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (Hon ARAM)
Awarded to individuals who did not study at the Academy but have given significant service to the institution (excluding financial donations), whether they have been professional musicians or not.

Honorary Doctor of the University (Hon DMus)
A person of conspicuous merit who is outstanding in their field and commands international, or at least national, recognition.

Nomination process

Nominations for 2019/20 are now closed and will open for 2020/21 in autumn 2020.
