How to apply

Applications will open on 18 July for 2021 entry.

The application deadline will be 1 October 2020 for most auditions in London in December.
The application deadline for Orchestral Conducting and for Musical Theatre will be 1 November 2020, and we have the following later application deadline dates:

Choral Conducting, Repetiteur: 6 January 2021, 6pm UK time
MPhil/PhD (research degree), CPD: 15 January 2021, 6pm UK time

Entry requirements

Age: The minimum age for study is 18 by 31 December in the year of joining the Academy.

Undergraduate candidates (BMus)
Postgraduate candidates (MA, MMus, Advanced Diploma, Research Degrees, Prof Dip, PGCert and CPD)
English Language requirements
Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning (APEL)


1 October 2020, 18.00 (BST) – most programmes.

Applications for all courses are made through UCAS Conservatoires, except for the study abroad or ERASMUS+ placements.

There is a £26 UCAS Conservatoires registration fee, plus the Academy’s application fee which can be found here.

Information about the required supporting items for applications to our Research programmes can be found here.

If you would like to be considered for different courses for the same discipline, you normally only need to apply for the higher-level course via UCAS. Please do not make multiple applications for the same specialism. If you are uncertain about this, please contact admissions@ram.ac.uk 

Application help

All candidates who submit a complete application on time will be assessed for entry. If you have missed the deadline, please contact admissions@ram.ac.uk before submitting a late application.

Results are issued through UCAS Conservatoires, usually within one month of the audition date.

ERASMUS+ and Study Abroad results are issued directly to candidates’ Exchange/Study Abroad coordinators in their own institution, usually during May.
