Winner of the 17th Budapest International Viola Competition, Yuko has performed as a soloist throughout Europe and Japan with many orchestras, including Hungarian State Philharmonic Orchestra, F. Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra and Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and performs frequently with Britain’s most eminent string quartets and chamber ensembles. She is a member of the Fibonacci Sequence Ensemble and has also appeared as guest principal with orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

Her CD, ROMANZE — The Romantic Viola, with pianist Kathron Sturrock was voted one of Classic CD magazine’s Choices of the Month and was also praised with similar enthusiasm from The Strad and Gramophone. She has also recorded all three Viola da Gamba Sonatas plus the Chaconne by J. S. Bach which is available from Quartz Records.

Besides her work at the Academy, Yuko gives masterclasses throughout Europe and Japan. She plays on a viola by J.B. Vuillaume.
