Experienced performer, particularly in West End shows

Simon has had a varied teaching and performing career spanning nearly 30 years and has been Head of Woodwind & Brass at Radley College since 1998. Other schools taught at include: Roedean, Leighton Park, Ludgrove, St George’s Windsor, Hall Grove, Bearwood College and St Joseph’s Reading.

As a performer he has played all over the world and in everything from symphony orchestras to tribute bands. Much of his work has been in Music Theatre particularly in the West End; deputising in shows such as Chess, City of Angels, Carousel, Sherlock Holmes the Musical, A Little Night Music and Phantom of the Opera; his own shows have included Company and Dick Whittington. He has also worked at The National Theatre providing incidental music for plays and in the Kurt Weill Musical Lady in the Dark.

From 2000 to 2006 he led a horn section in an Elvis Tribute Band and in 2008 was a founding member of The Blake’s Heaven Big Band.

In 2011 he worked with Victoria Wood on her musical ‘That Day We Sang’ at the Manchester International Festival.

He also recorded incidental music for a recent production of the Importance of Being Earnest. From 2014 he has been the oboe coach for the Duet Philharmonic, a youth orchestra formed from the leading public schools.
