Orchestral and chamber musician, recitalist and recording artist

Richard has performed extensively throughout Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain,Scandinavia and the USA. For ten years he was concertmaster and a founding member of the Orchestra of St John’s in London. He has given recitals in the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall, London, recorded many performances for BBC Radio 3 and has appeared in festivals such as Edinburgh, Manchester, Bath, Three Choirs, Haslemere and the BBC Proms.

He performs a wide range of chamber music, and also appears as a director/soloist with orchestras in Britain. He is a professor of violin at the Royal Academy of Music and makes regular visits to Japan to give chamber concerts and masterclasses, as well as being a visiting professor at Tokyo Geidai Music Conservatoire. He has a long standing Piano Trio and Horn Trio and has recorded for ASV and Meridian.
