Steven Osborne joins Academy staff

The Royal Academy of Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Osborne as Visiting Professor of Piano. He joins an impressive roster of Visiting Professors of Piano: Imogen Cooper, Pascal Devoyon, Stephen Hough, Kathryn Stott and Yevgeny Sudbin.

Professor Joanna MacGregor OBE, Head of Piano, said: ‘It is a pleasure to welcome Steven Osborne as a Visiting Professor after his inspirational teaching here last term. I'm particularly pleased to make this appointment during audition time, when hundreds of talented pianists visit the Academy. Those who’ll be studying here from next September will will be working with our dedicated and highly experienced principal-study professors, complemented by regular visits from our exciting Visiting Professors.'

Steven Osborne’s standing as one of the great pianists of his generation was publically affirmed in 2013 with two major awards: The Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year and his second Gramophone Award, this time in the Instrumental category for his recording of Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition and solo works by Prokofiev.
