Doctoral Student Phi Bui has collaborated with the tech giant to create a unique soundtrack series for their latest advertising campaign.

Microsoft commissioned the London-based, Californian-born composer and music producer to write four original compositions introducing their new Surface products.

Phi worked closely with the company’s design team to score the adverts, which have already received over six million views and gained over 100,000 likes since being released on YouTube in October.

Phi is currently completing his PhD in composition at the Royal Academy of Music, supervised by Head of Composition Philip Cashian.

He explains, 'The music I'm creating in my research and in advertising correlate, as the processes of both require the awareness of musical and cultural climates.'
