-Posted on 24.04.2020

This week sees the beginning of the Summer term, and whilst we are still working, learning and practicing at home we do hope to welcome you back to the building soon. Our students, staff and alumni have been busy again sharing their videos of remote music-making.

If you would like the Academy to help share your virtual performances with our audience please tag us with #RAMplaysON in your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts.

Emily Davis-Robb spoke to our Artist Development team for one of our alumni profiles. Emily usually splits her time between the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Glasgow and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. The interview covers her busy international career as well as advice about taking stock during these difficult times for musicians.

Our Musical Theatre 2017-19 alumni reunited digitally to record You Will Be Found from the show Dear Evan Hansen in a powerful tribute to NHS workers.

Cello student Sheku Kanneh-Mason has released an original composition called Melody, out now as a single on Decca Records. Sheku and his siblings continue their tremendous live streams, you can find these on Sheku’s Facebook page

Recent composition alumnus Alex Woolf presented an episode of Inside Music on BBC Radio 3. His programme explored music with surprising twists, Alex said: “Much of the music that I love shares one important characteristic, which is that it takes you where you are almost expecting to go, but not quite…”

We have had some fun film and video game musical arrangements shared this week:
