#RAMplaysON - Update 13

-Posted on 26.06.2020

Here are of some of our favourite videos from the past week. Don’t forget to share your ‘at home’ performances with us by using the hashtag #RAMplaysON.

A reminder that our 2021/22 Prospectus is here, you can download a copy from our website. This is our first publication featuring our new look. Let us know what you think on social media.

This week, the Academy Big Band gave us a brilliant recording of Kenny Wheeler’s Smatta. They had been due to record the piece at Abbey Road Studios with students from the University of Miami Frost School of Music before the lockdown sadly disrupted these plans. This virtual big band of Academy players is a dynamic tribute to the paused project.

The latest in our online 200 Pieces series is Quest by Diana Burrell, performed by bassoon student Guylaine Eckersley. The title came after the piece was written and reflects the shifting, characterful solo part. Composed ahead of our Bicentenary, Quest is one of the 200 Pieces of new music written to celebrate this milestone in 2022. We will have another piece to share with you next week.
