Organ Department Appointments

The Royal Academy of Music is delighted to announce the appointment of Danish organist Bine Bryndorf as a Professor of Organ from September 2018, in succession to Susan Landale. Bine Bryndorf has a distinguished international career as a soloist and recording artist. She is also in great demand worldwide for masterclasses and as a juror for international organ competitions. She was appointed Organist of Frederiksborg Castle, Hillerød in 2017.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the Academy’s organ department, Susan Landale has been appointed E Power Biggs Professor Emerita and will continue teaching as a Visiting Professor of Organ.

Also joining the organ department from September as a Visiting Professor, is the distinguished organist/composer, Franz Danksagmüller, Professor of Organ and Improvisation at University of Music, Lübeck. With his innovative projects, exceptional organ improvisations and live electronics performances, Franz Danksagmüller is considered one of the most creative minds on the international concert scene.

Professor David Titterington, Head of Organ says:

'These significant professorial appointments will hugely enrich and develop the teaching of organ at the Academy and I warmly welcome my distinguished colleagues. This is an exciting time for the department and over the coming months we will be rolling out new collaborative projects which will offer unique and inspiring opportunities for our organ students.'
