Open Academy Fellowships 2015–16

-Posted on 29.06.2015

The Academy’s mission has always been to provide musical training at the highest level. Through Open Academy we extend this opportunity beyond our enrolled students and out into the communities of London. Academy students benefit directly by engaging in innovative creative learning and participation projects, and discovering an application of their skills beyond the traditional concert platform.

As well as providing training in learning and participation skills for both undergraduate and postgraduate students through the Creative Music Leadership electives, Open Academy also works with a number of graduates each year who have shown an exceptional passion and aptitude for this area of work.

Julian West, Head of Open Academy, writes: ‘Our Open Academy Fellows continue to receive training and mentoring, taking part in the full range of Open Academy projects – our own in-house projects, and through our work with music hubs and other cultural partners. Most participants are young people in London’s schools who would not normally have the opportunity to experience music making and creativity at the highest level.’

Our Open Academy Fellows for 2015–16 will be James Moriarty, Phoebe Rees, Tomoyo Maruyama and Patrick Terry.
