Disney concert in the Albert Hall

On Sunday 23rd October the Academy’s entire Musical Theatre Company took to the stage of the Royal Albert Hall for a very special Disney extravaganza.

The Academy’s choir joined the BBC Concert Orchestra and singers from ArtsEd, performing with a star-studded line-up of vocal soloists including Ashley Brown (Broadway's original Mary Poppins), Merle Danridge (Aida, Tarzan), Alton Fitzgerald White (Mufasa in The Lion King), Scarlett Strallen (a London Mary Poppins) and Josh Strickland (Broadway's original Tarzan). Also performing were Dean-John Wilson, Jade Ewen and Trevor Dion Nicholas from the West End cast of Aladdin. Alan Menken made a surprise appearance and performed ‘Proud of Your Boy’ from Aladdin. The MC was John Barrowman.
The enthusiastic audience enjoyed music from all of Disney’s Broadway hits, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Aida, Mary Poppins, Newsies, King David, Tarzan and Aladdin. There was also a rendition of Let It Go from the upcoming 2018 Broadway adaptation of Frozen.

‘There's hardly a better venue in the world to experience the magic of Disney than the enchanting Royal Albert Hall’, said What’s On Stage in their four-star review of the show.

Tickets are on sale now for the Musical Theatre Company’s next spectacular performance: An American Musical Love Affair at the Shaw Theatre on 10th November.
