The full schedule for this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival has been announced. As in previous years, festival audiences will have many opportunities to hear Academy students, alumni and professors.

The Academy Big Band returns to the EFG London Jazz Festival on Saturday 21st November, when they will perform at the Royal Festival Hall Clore Ballroom at 4.30pm. This time students will perform in an Anglo-French collaboration featuring the joyful music of the Parisian Charlier/Sourisee duo. The musical partnership of drummer André Charlier and pianist/organist Benoît Sourisse, who are both renowned for their groove-inspired compositions and virtuosic playing, goes back over twenty years. Now, for the first time, their music has been scored for big band.

Academy alumni feature in various ensembles throughout the festival – including Chris Hyson, Lauren Kinsella, Matt Robinson, Dave Hamblett and Josh Arcoleo; Kenny Wheeler Prize winner Ralph Wyld and Deutsche Bank Award winner Tom Green; Flo Moore and Tom Millar; Thomas Gould, Sam Burgess, Joshua Blackmore, Trish Clowes, Chris Montague, Ivo Neame and Julian Argüelles. Academy professors and recent visitors Stan Tracey, Gareth Lockrane, Jasper Høiby, Dave Holland, Pete Churchill, Tom Cawley, Stan Sulzmann, Nikki Iles and Head of Jazz Nick Smart will also perform.

Last but not least, current student Jacob Collier will make his UK concert hall debut at the Barbican. He will appear on Friday 20th November in the fourth show of the EFG Excellence Series.
