Academy alumni win Grammys

Royal Academy alumnus Jacob Collier won two Grammy Awards at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, 12th February. His prizes were for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, with ‘You And I’, and for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals, with ‘Flintstones’. Collier, whose mother, Susan Collier, is a violin professor at Junior Academy, studied at Junior Academy and was a student on the BMus course at the Royal Academy.

Elizabeth Kenny, Professor of Lute, won Best Classical Solo Album for Shakespeare Songs, which also featured flute player Adam Walker, another alumnus. Other Academy winners included Christopher Maltman for Best Opera Recording with Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles and Ludovic Morlot for Best Surround Sound Album, for his work on a CD of Dutilleux.
