All students are automatically members of RAMSU, the Royal Academy of Music Students' Union. RAMSU is led by an elected president (a current student or recent graduate) and a committee of friendly Academy students. As well as welfare services and international representation, it runs a variety of societies, adaptable to demand. Current active societies and clubs include the Christian Union, Street Dance, Yoga, and Football . Regular meetings with the Board of Management ensure that students' opinions are understood and acted upon. Through RAMSU, all Academy students have the chance to be heard.
Social activities are an essential part of Academy life. Specific events include a Rag Week (Raising and Giving for charity), termly balls, themed parties, and a Freshers' week aimed to help new students meet. Other frequent events include karaoke, games nights, and unique Academy inspired quizzes. RAMSU is run in close contact with the University of London Union, giving Academy students access to their wide range of facilities.
