The Spencer Collection: English Originals free

Wednesday, 18.10.2017 19:00, Duke’s Hall

Tickets: Free, no tickets required

At the heart of the current Museum exhibition from the archive of Robert Spencer’s extensive collection of music and objects from across Europe is the music of seventeenth-century England. This programme explores lute songs, consort music and the explosion of theatrical repertoire after the Restoration, many from original prints or copies, which formed the bedrock of Spencer’s distinguished performing career.

Directed by Elizabeth Kenny, the Academy’s professor of lute and theorbo and leading expert on the English masque, and featuring performances by Academy professor and acclaimed countertenor Michael Chance.
