10am: Introductory talk by the Academy’s Head of Jazz Programmes, Nick Smart 
11am: Guided tour of the building 
11.30am–1pm: Open repertoire/improvisation session 
2–5pm: Open Academy Big Band rehearsal 

Come and hear about the BMus and Master’s programmes, meet some of the teaching sta and students and hear them in action. The Academy’s internationally renowned Jazz Department is a welcoming environment that trains young jazz musicians to the highest professional levels. By nurturing performance and composition together the course focuses on the students’ own artistic and professional development, while balancing musical traditions alongside the contemporary influences embraced by the jazz scene today. The afternoon concludes with an open rehearsal for the Academy Big Band concert on Wednesday 11 October, led by Gordon Campbell.

As part of the Academy’s Jazz @ 30 celebrations, the Academy Big Band presents the music of our internationally regarded Professor of Jazz Composition, Pete Churchill
