Peter Sheppard Skærved explores a 1685 Stradivarius violin from the collection of the Royal Northern College of Music. This type of small violin is often labelled a ‘piccolo violin’. What is it really? What can we learn from it? What works best on it today?

With thanks to the Royal Northern College of Music for the loan of the instrument for this event.
