The main audition session for joining Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in September 2010 took place at the Royal Academy of Music between 30th November 2009 and 11th December 2009.
We expect candidates to be available to attend during this period, and to remember that we do not audition all studies on each day of the session.
Please see How to apply > key application dates for details of the application procedure, also for information about Conducting auditions, Choral Conducting auditions, and Research Degree interviews which do not take place in December, and about auditions which take place in East Asia and North America.
International Candidates
If you live in Europe, you must audition in London. Other international candidates are strongly advised to do likewise. Auditions for some studies are also held in North America and Asia.
Detailed information
Please see the relevant department pages for specific details on auditions for your own instrument or specialism. It is not normally permitted to audition twice for the same study during the same admissions session.
Accompanists: Whilst the Academy provides a pool of accompanists for the London auditions in December, and an accompanist is normally available at our New York auditions, you are strongly advised to bring your own. If you cannot do this, there is no charge for using an Academy accompanist, and you will be allocated a short rehearsal with them immediately before your audition time.
Disabled candidates
Please see Study > Student support > Disabilities.
Audition Results
The Registry will notify you of the result of your audition by letter as soon as possible after the Admissions Board has met at the end of the audition session. We regret we cannot give any results by phone or email.
If you are placed on a reserve list, we will endeavour to contact you as soon as we have any further news.
If you decide that you do not want to accept our offer of a study place, or do not wish to be kept on the Academy's reserve list, please email the Admissions Officer in the Registry Office.
All offers made are conditional upon you achieving the Academy's educational and language requirements (see Entry qualifications).
