This one-year Organ Foundation Course is designed primarily for ‘gap-year’ students preparing either for Oxbridge organ scholarships or for those wishing to develop their organ playing and choral direction skills to a high level before university or conservatoire studies. On completion of this course, students will receive the appropriate certification of their studies. The course is delivered by the Academy’s distinguished organ faculty and comprises the following components:

  • A weekly organ lesson: technique, performance and repertoire
  • Improvisation class and figured-bass
  • Choir training class: conducting technique, rehearsal skills & repertoire
  • Aural classes: intermediate to advanced skills
  • RCO diplomas: preparation in paperwork and pieces for ARCO and FRCO

Applications should be received by 1st October to audition in December at the main audition session in London; during the Spring, applications may be received up to and including the Easter vacation.
