Families

The museum welcomes families with children of all ages. Pick up a free family trail from the ground floor information point and set off to explore the museum through music facts, drawing and observation games. Trails are suitable for children of primary school age. Don’t forget to collect a pencil and clipboard when you pick up your trail.

The museum provides fun, gallery-based workshops for children and families as part of its Family Workshops. These sessions are inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and displays, and are led by professional educational facilitators and staff from the museum.

Children’s Trails

Pick up a free family trail from the ground floor information point and set off to explore the museum through music facts, drawing and observation games. Trails are suitable for children of primary school age. Don’t forget to collect a pencil and clipboard when you pick up your trail and a sticker on your way out!

Family Workshops (suitable for 5-7 year olds)

Come along to our fun, gallery-based workshops for children and families which take place twice a year in the Piano Gallery. These sessions are inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and displays, and are led by professional educational facilitators and the Museum team. Please check the ‘What’s on’ section of the website for more details on these sessions. All children should be accompanied by a parent or carer.

Academy Tots (suitable for 3-5 year olds)

Come and discover the exciting world of instruments in the Museum. Academy Tots sessions are held once a month on a Tuesday morning and last for 45 minutes. Set in the inspiring Piano Gallery we discover instruments and sounds and explore making music as a group. Led by Open Academy Fellows and the Museum team. Bring your singing voices and listening ears! Please check the ‘What’s on’ section of the website for more details on these sessions.
