The Royal Academy of Music galleries host permanent and visiting exhibitions. Lectures and workshops concerning the material displayed frequently accompany temporary exhibitions, and serve to enrich the environment of the Academy's ‘living museum’.
Our galleries display many fine items from the Academy's collections. All the instruments, including a large collection of Cremonese stringed instruments, are carefully maintained in playing condition. Other exhibits include musical memorabilia and original manuscripts.
The museum is an integral part of Academy life: regular events take place in the galleries, including performances and demonstrations on some of the instruments on display. The collections are used intensively by students and staff for research and the study of performance practice.
