Ravel the Soldier, Debussy musicien francais
2.30-4.00pm

Dr Emily Kilpatrick and Dr Roy Howat explore Ravel’s and Debussy’s creative responses to the First World War. From contributions to relief efforts and tributes for friends lost at the front to reflections on wartime circumstances, their songs and piano music encompass patriotic fervour, poignant laments and bitter musings on the loss of innocence.

This event complements the Academy Museum’s current exhibition, War Music: Notes from the First World War, which runs until March 2015.
