| Description |
The engraved title sheet was the first such pictorial continental-style music page produced in England. It was adapted from Le Roy by the printer Vautrollier for his London edition of Lassus's Chansons in 1570. It was also used directly as a pattern for a large decorative carved screen at Cuckfield Place, Sussex, a late Elizabethan manor house.
The engraved image shows the figures of Justice (upper left) and Peace (upper right). |
