Introduction

Based on the Academy’s highly successful approach to the teaching of conducting, these exciting and informative workshops balance the technical aspects of conducting with insights into the performance styles and performance histories of some the world's leading practitioners.

Each series of workshops will begin with sessions led by Dr Holden, who will investigate conductors’ marked scores, thoughts on conducting, treatises, recordings, performance data and performance artefacts. Those sessions will be followed by practical lessons in conducting with Maestro Metters, who will demonstrate the skills necessary to interpret the masterworks considered by Dr Holden.
