Vocal - Professor of Singing

Former principal with ENO, Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne and other opera companies

She now concentrates on concert and oratorio performances alongside educational work

Catherine studied French Horn and Singing at Chethams School of Music in Manchester. She then went on to study singing with Noelle Barker at the Guildhall School of Music, spending five years there, including two years postgraduate study on the opera course.

She embarked on a successful freelance career performing throughout the UK in opera, concert and oratorio. She performed in principal roles with Park Lane Opera, Bloomsbury Opera, Opera Holland Park, ENO, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Glyndebourne Touring Opera. At Glyndebourne she was awarded the then Glyndebourne Touring Opera Singers Award, enabling her to study Mozart opera roles with Martin Isepp.

She made the decision to curtail her operatic career in favour of family life, moving to Shropshire to bring up her three children. She continued however to perform in concert and oratorio, and engaged in educational work for Opera 80 and ENO.

As her children grew up she began her teaching career. Catherine has a particular interest in pedagogy and Art of Teaching.
