Rodney Friend joins Strings staff
Violin professor of international renown will teach at the Academy from September 2015
The Royal Academy of Music is delighted to add Rodney Friend MBE to its distinguished roster of violin professors, and to welcome students in his class to the Strings Department in the coming academic year.
With an illustrious profile as soloist, an impressive discography of concertos and chamber music, and periods as concertmaster of the London Philharmonic (their youngest leader), the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic, Rodney Friend passes on to his students the fruits of his experience. His two published volumes of ‘The Orchestral Violinist’ are amongst the most important works so far produced throughout the discipline: a must-have for any aspiring professional violinist.
As an increasingly influential teacher, Rodney Friend has founded (and is Artistic Director of) the Cambridge International String Academy.
He is an acknowledged violin professor of international renown and in constant demand for masterclasses and as a jury member throughout the world.
